What kind of curtains/drapes do you use with Traverse rods?
Question by Bucfan: What kind of curtains/drapes do you use with Traverse rods?
I just moved into an apt that has a traverse rod installed. I really need to put up some curtains/drapes, as the blinds installed on the windows dont keep enough light out. What type of curtains do you use with traverse rods? Most curtains I see slide on to some regular rod while traverse rods have these little things with holes. I take it you have to get some type of curtain/drapes that have hooks?
Any explanation or help would be appreciated.

You want curtains/drapes with pinched pleats at the top. You slide the hooks into the pleats and then put hooks into the rod. Go to a small decorator store. They should have examples for you to see.

Hooks can be fitted into the pleat of the drapes and these hooks slide on the rod.
If you are going to purchase a drapery, then you need to keep some tips in mind.
keep in thought about curtain material, curtain hardware and color of fabric to be used, whether all these three will look good together.
For more tips you can check source website.
Take care and best of luck

Yes, you need pinch-pleat drapes and the special hooks that you buy separately. You can get the hooks anywhere. I recently saw them at Walmart and Kmart.
Pinch-pleat drapes can be more expensive though. Have you considered installing a regular, inexpensive rod that juts out farther from the wall than the existing one? Then you could put on typical rod-pocket curtains and they’d be right in front of the old traverse rod to hide it. I’m thinking that you can’t remove the traverse rod because it’s a rental, right?
