What color curtains go with beige walls, brown furniture and?

cream carpet. I have two rooms next to each other. My living room has beige walls, a little bit darker couch with some deep red in the pillows. My curtains for that room are deep red. I want to put curtains in the room right next door which is currently being used as a playroom. Should I use beige curtains or deep red like the living room or another color? Any suggestions would be helpful.

  1. deep red less is more

  2. I feel that white curtains would give the room more light and a real summery look. You could add some white pillows too.

The best thing about white is that you can pick up muslin or another white fabric very cheaply.

  3. I know this seems a little radical, but with brown, i like all the deep purples, and oranges. Burgundy also goes with both. You can always choose one colour, and then choose another in accessories and cushions. Good Luck

  4. I Would suggest a nice red or a lime green otherwise its too dull.

  6. i think i would see what colors make –the color brown from the primary colors first–get your hues in place first—how do you get brown —?let say like red and black makes brown—now we now yellow goes with brown—white goes with red—gold or tan goes with brown—some browns have a slight blue hue in them—-dark brown —white—yellow—gold—very light lavender —very light blue—peach—harvest autum—-and maybe a maroon color would match what you describe–and maybe a very light pear colored yellow—orange–or a light colored orange—–i think i would go with a pretty orange nothing bright—-paster type orange or peach

  7. If it’s going to be a playroom, I’d go with off-white. Keep it light.

  8. Keep going , your on a roll. the colors you have shared are all within the same design coordinates.. the beiges and browns are a good base.. try accents of red, gold , chocolate with a dark green for a splash of interest. Your color palette is all earth tones, hence.. anything that you find in nature will work well as long as its done tastefully. Remember: when in doubt, take one thing out. Good luck in your decorating endeavors!

  9. Although I’m not a big fan of the color blue, I do think a country blue would go very well with the warm tones of the brown. You could even add an accent of orange to give the room a bit of color. The blue drapes would give you a sense of light without the worry of the white getting to look dingy or dirty in a few weeks. You really want to add a soft color to this to give it some life and with the bold accent of the orange it would bring in the added warmth the room may need.
I have burgundy and gold drapes in my parlor and an antique love seat covered in a blue velvet brocade. I used all my Grandmother’s needlepoint which I made into pillows. The Queen Anne side chair is burgundy and gold with a small blue brocade pillow. The tiny footstool is a copy of a French Provence antique and I covered it in burgundy brocade and added gold tassels.
I was pretty much copying a room I had seen in Metropolitan Home.
Their final cost on the room was a little more than $45,000, mine cost just a little less than $400. The rooms look almost identical.
