When it comes to brightening up your room, it's easy to underestimate how much impact curtain poles can have. Complimenting both the colour and style of your curtains as well as the decor of the room in question, curtain poles are available in a myriad of different designs.

One thing to be aware of is the weight of your intended curtains. If you choose to buy a lightweight curtain pole but have curtains made from heavy material sagging may occur. Choosing curtain poles that can support the weight of all that material will certainly make all the difference. A few weeks ago, I heard this exact cry from my father who lives in a terraced house and has two large bay windows. Up until now, he had been happy with a plastic curtain track but after having his lounge redecorated, he felt it was time for a change and indeed, an upgrade.

Unfortunately, he has limited mobility and was at the time, recovering from a broken leg making him essentially housebound. Usually he would go into town and look around his local shops but his injury made this impossible.

So, this resulted in a telephone call from my dad saying, “Help! I need Curtain Poles for my Bay Window and I don’t know where to look”. I considered various options, such as driving him to the shops or trying to find a suitable curtain pole in a catalogue, but instead came up with another idea. How about letting him search online in order to try to find the right curtain pole.

By doing this, he could either, find a curtain pole, buy it there and then and have it delivered or at least find a shop that stocked the right one and I could go and pick it up for him. So, armed with my lap top computer I went around to my dad’s house and let him loose on the Internet.

Once online, it was easy to find a plethora of websites all stocking curtain poles and of course, more specifically, bay window curtain poles but with so many websites how do you choose the right one. After all, it is easy to become dizzy from browsing through all these sites trying to find a suitable pole.

My dad had some specific requests, for example he specifically requested a metal curtain pole (he wanted to avoid plastic altogether), which made it easier to narrow the field. Bay window curtain poles are available in Black metal, Brass effect and Stainless Steel so there were still plenty of options open to him.

One website that stocked Bay Window curtain poles as well as straight poles was the Curtain Pole Shop. A range of different, styles and materials were available, making them a great choice for online curtain pole shopping. These curtain poles came in 360cm lengths making them perfect for a multitude of bay windows and a return kit was also available to extend around the bay window return should one be needed.

They had a delivery service too. This meant that he could buy the right curtain pole at a great price without ever leaving the home and have it delivered straight to his front door.
