SHAKE THE DUST

A concept video that I worked on until 4:30 one night. There is no copyright infringement. I simply made a video using Another video and a song. The video was recorded at TWLOHA's 2010 Heavy and Light. I do not own either. Words to the poem are below. To see Anis Mojgani perform live is an exercise in jaw control. It's the classic "I laughed, I cried, I was transformed" experience. Imagine the perfect artistic expression of mans timeless struggle to understand God—to make sense of this life. Then watch Anis poetry. It's as if someone came into your dark, sleepy world of self and flung open the heavy velvet curtains to let the blinding light shine in. This performance, released exclusively today on SoulPancake, is just one example. Anis is one of those rare people who can talk about life in a real, accessible way. No fuss. No frills. No airy-fairy embellishments. Just BOOM! Your humanity, on stage, speaking to you. Even people who think poetry is well, lame, become transfixed by what they witness. So it's no wonder he has been the World Poetry Slam Champion as well as National Poetry Slam Champion (twice). this is for the fat girls this one's for the little brothers this is for the schoolyard wimps and for the childhood bullies that tormented them for the former prom queen and for the milk-crate ballplayers for the nighttime cereal eaters and for the retired, elderly, Walmart-store, front-door greeters shake the dust this is for the benches and the people sitting upon them ...
