Q&A: Any ideas for creative, RUSTIC bathroom shower curtain rings?
Question by KristenCO: Any ideas for creative, RUSTIC bathroom shower curtain rings?
I just redid my bathroom with a rustic theme - earthtone calls and ceiling, twig shelves, barnwood towel rack, mason jar soap dispenser, etc. Now I'm trying to think of what I could use for shower curtain rings (to put the curtain on the rod) that would fit in with this theme. Many cabin stores sell "lodge" type cutesy pinecones, moose, elk, etc. type rings, but I'm not looking for cutesy. I'm looking for truly rustic.

Maybe wooden, or wooden-looking ---- or even that brown twine (can't remember what it's called) I know they make wooden rods -- and wooden rings. too easy??? too plain?
Wrap some of that other stuff around them.

You mentioned twigs in your motif before. I like the idea of a simple twig style ring. No decorations, nothing hanging, just a simple twig ring holding the curtain on. If you can’t find any then I would go one of two routes
1- simple dull brass tone rings fit the true country spirit but may not accent your ultra-country motif. Either way they won’t detract from it
2- large wooded ones -again simple and understated but nice on their own terms.
Either way stay clear of over ornamentation in that area. Things hanging from the rings typically look silly.

You can check this out. This company has rustic natural fiber textiles and materials.
I currently have match stick blinds in my bath.

white plastic shower curtain rings..the big 2″ ones..use a color like puritan pine or honey oak wood stain to achieve that earthy tone…submerge them in the stain and then pull them out and toss them around in a old t-shirt to give them that washed out look..let them dry and coat with “gem coat” sealer. It’s like creating a faux finish on curtain rings. You can get these products at any Sherwin Williams.

Use pull tabs from beer cans. Energy drinks often have colored pull tabs. String them togeter to fit over the bar and clip them with a safty pin.

You could take old fashioned hand forged spine nails and have them beaten into a metal hook. Or you could take baling twine and tie that into loops to make rings. Or you could use the S-Hook portion of a rubber bungee chord. Or you might use some old horse bridle rings.
What you might do is go to some farm auctions or auctions out in the country that sell almost everything under the sun. They should have old farm equipment and stuff used on a farm back in the day. I’m sure if you looked through couple boxes of stuff at an auction like that, you’d find what you are looking for.
From what I’m thinking, you want something you can use as a shower hook, but that people can still recognize what it is and that it is countryish & rustic.

Tie it on with twine. You might have to do 2 or 3
loops. Or if the shower curtain is a quilt, you could
use strips of fabric, tied in square knots.
