Question by omygosh: Are you supposed to cut the curtains/drapes after you buy them?
they're so long. they would look wierd on a normal window

You can definitely do that. That's why most drapes come so long, so that they'll fit really tall windows but also anyone can trim them to the length they want to fit all sizes of windows.
Sometimes drapes come with an iron-on adhesive tape that you can use to hem them to the length you want. If yours didn't come with that, you can buy it at a fabric store. Then you just measure and cut the curtains to the length you want, fold over the cut edge on the bottom, and iron this tape on so that it locks the fold and prevents the cut edge from fraying.
