Curtain Tassels are an old favorite in the drapery styling world. These wonderful accessories can add the perfect accent to a drapery system, particularly one incorporating curtain tiebacks. Generally, you will find these are part of a tieback package. However, they can be purchased separately, in going this route; you get much more in terms of customization.

Functionality:

Typically, these accessories have very little impact on the function of the curtain tieback, as they are used more so to add a styling aspect to the drapery than anything. However, curtain tassels can act as an extension of the tieback and provide a gripping handle to allow for easier use and tying space for the rope. Overall however, they do not offer much in terms of the functionality of the drapery.

Curtain Tassels - Styling

In looking at the styling aspects curtain tassels, there is a wide range of options available. From an elegant beaded look, to a lengthy horsehair design; you can find a design that will fit well into any theme, as well as any drapery.

Generally, the overall design of these accessories is relatively simple; consisting of a woven rope usually manufactured with polyester or rayon, with a diameter of anywhere from 1/4 of an inch to 1 inch. The rope is tied into a knot at one end, and the unwoven portion of the rope is released out the other side producing the tassels. While in fact the design is relatively simple and offers very little in terms of customization, there are endless style opportunities for curtain tassels.

Many popular styles incorporate a number of different color strings that are woven into the rope, producing a multicolored scheme that give the tassels flexibility in how well they can be incorporated into a pre existing theme. From vibrant vivid colors, to more modern neutral based colors, the options are virtually limitless.

Aside from the colors, the lengths of the tassels can vary as well. Typically you will find that the tassel length will measure anywhere from 3 inches to 12 inches. However, on larger scale draperies, obviously the length of the curtain tassels can be lengthened in scale to the curtains.

The Importance of Screens for Fireplaces

No matter the season, Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer, having a fireplace helps to set a mood - be it romantic, comforting, or an actual source of heat. When burning logs within the fireplace, extreme caution should be used to prevent sparks from flying outside of the hearth, children and/or pets from falling into the fire, as well keeping items from accidentally falling into the fire, partially in and partially out, thus causing a much larger fire than what was anticipated.
