Curtain Rods

With the wide variety of buildings being made today, it is little wonder that there are also an equal number of types of habitations. In fact, homes, whether they be of the rentable or buyable type, tend to follow the fashions not of clothing, but of building; that is, materials used, designs, colors, the works. Now an interesting, if not strange idea has surfaced: bathrooms without doors. For this we have toilet curtains.

Whoever it is that conceived the idea of having toilets -or bathrooms, in American parlance, devoid of doors was either a minor genius or a mad idiot. Either way, there is little in the way of a point to not having a door on the most private of rooms, particularly when a party is being had. For this reason, many tenants quickly erected toilet curtains.

Toilet curtains are simply drapes that accurately cover the doorway to a toilet, bathroom, loo, head, or whatever you choose to call that most sacred of rooms where we do all of our private rituals and necessities (and there are quite a few of them, if you think about it carefully).

It is really a simple matter, if you decide to install toilet curtains. In fact, they can be easily made at home. First, select a curtain rod along with its brackets. Install them over the doorway of the toilet. Four quick turns of four small silver screws, a bit of installation, and viola: you have an empty doorway, but with a curtain rod, and thus, potential.

Next, select two thick, even rugged pieces of cloth (or a single piece cut lengthwise). At the top you’ll want to fold the top of each piece of cloth so that it allows for a neat tube through which the curtain rod can pass. In fact, it’s best to sew these with the curtain rod contained in the cloth to ensure a proper fit. Now install, and you’ve got your privacy.

It’s nothing fancy, nor is it rocket science, and now even many homebuilders (who might tend to continue with this fashionable look) are selling homes with the curtains already installed, as well they should.
