Curtain Poles in the Home
Curtain Poles in the Home
When it comes to brightening up your room, it's easy to underestimate how much impact curtain poles can have. Complimenting both the colour and style of your curtains as well as the decor of the room in question, curtain poles are available in a myriad of different designs.
Although essentially just a pole designed to hold a curtain, curtain poles are actually much, much more. They have become a design feature with many people turning to them instead of opting for a traditional plastic curtain track. Curtain poles are available in many materials and finishes including wood, metal, and more.
At the end of a curtain pole is the finial. These effectively stop the curtains from slipping of the ends by being larger than the curtain rings. However, it should be mentioned that these curtain pole finials are indeed much more than that and are decorative items in their own right. Curtain pole finials are available in some fabulous shapes and sizes, in fact whatever your taste; there will be a finial out there that suits you.
Both wooden curtain poles and metal curtain poles can be used in many different situations. Whether you have a traditionally decorated home or one that is more modern both can be equally suitable. It should be said however that although there is nothing wrong with a laissez faire attitude to home decor certain colours and shades lend themselves better to certain styles.
Before you make that all important decision as to which curtain pole is perfect for your home, you should always make sure you have looked around at all the different options available to you. Read a curtain pole measuring guide before hand and then make sure that you know exactly what size curtain pole you are going to need.
One thing to be aware of is the weight of your intended curtains. If you choose to buy a lightweight curtain pole but have curtains made from heavy material sagging may occur. Choosing curtain poles that can support the weight of all that material will certainly make all the difference. If in doubt always opt for a sturdy wooden curtain pole or indeed a well manufactured metal curtain pole
